Recently, Jianglong Shipbuilding successfully secured a contract for two 70-meter high-speed cargo vessels for the Hong Kong International Airport Dongguan Air Cargo Center. As the core equipment of the world’s first cross-border sea-air intermodal transport project featuring "direct access to the airport airside", these vessels are engineered with high adaptability, superior safety and exceptional efficiency. They will facilitate the implementation of this innovative logistics model, opening up a seamless "sea-air direct connection" corridor for cross-border logistics in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Tailored specifically to meet the demands of the "Four Specialized" integrated transport system – which encompasses specialized vessels, vehicles, containers and routes – these vessels leverage Jianglong’s extensive expertise in designing and constructing high-speed passenger ships and ro-pax vessels, ensuring they perfectly align with the project’s unique requirements. With a length of 69.8 meters, beam of 16.2 meters, depth of 4.5 meters and designed draft of 2.7 meters, the vessels are equipped with a twin-engine, twin-propeller and twin-rudder power system, complemented by bow thrusters and electronically controlled hydraulic flap rudders. This configuration delivers exceptional maneuverability, allowing seamless operation even in the complex environments of inland waterways. Boasting a designed speed of 16 knots and 50-hour endurance, they fully meet the core demand for fast and time-efficient air cargo transit, providing robust support for the pioneering "airside direct connection" model. In terms of cargo capacity, the vessels are engineered to accommodate the diverse and high-standard needs of cross-border sea-air transport. Their main decks can hold 55 customized containers measuring 13716×2580×3500mm, supporting dangerous goods, refrigerated items, oversized cargo and bulk goods alike. What truly sets this solution apart is its ability to enable a seamless full-chain logistics process: cargo completes customs clearance in Dongguan, is directly loaded onto the vessels, and then transferred straight to aircraft at Hong Kong Airport’s airside – eliminating the delays and inefficiencies of traditional sea-air intermodal transport that relies on indirect "airport-port" connections.

As the "key carrier" of the world’s first cross-border sea-air intermodal transport system, these deck cargo vessels custom-built by Jianglong Shipbuilding demonstrate the company’s technological prowess in the special-purpose vessel sector but also drive logistics model innovation through equipment innovation. Looking ahead, Jianglong Shipbuilding will ensure project delivery with digital design and intelligent construction technologies, and continue to empower the development of the GBA’s transportation network with professional marine vessel solutions.
