Thenaming ceremony has been held for the first of ten aluminum patrol boats builtby Jianglong Shipyard. The ceremony took place in the wharf of JianglongZhongshan Branch. The vessel looks military which can be used in complex seaconditions, with capability of long-range, continuous, high-speed patrolling, tracingand arresting.
Present at the event where representatives from OMS Mr. Ladan, Mr. Petros, Mr. Mabeokwu and Mr. Ikue-John, plus guests from Bureau Veritas and Jianglong Chairman Mr. Yan Zhiqing and other representatives from marketing to production department. Mr. Ladan and Mr. Petros christened the first vessel 'OVIA'.
The length ofthis vessel is 38.8 meters; beam 7.2 meters and depth 4.25 meters. Powered bytriple Mitsubishi engines, each contributing 1885 kilowatt, the speed can reach34 knots.
The representatives from OMSMr. Ladan said he is impressed by the friendly and professionally of Jianglongpeople. Through the on-site inspection, the construction of the vessels is strictlyin accordance with the classification and international standards. He believesthat this batch of patrol boats will enhance the maritime security capabilityof Nigeria. It will also promote a closer and deeper friendship and cooperationbetween China and Africa in both economy and trade.
Jianglong has more and more opportunities to cooperate with many African countries and had built more than 50 units boats for many African countries, such as Nigeria, Angola, Madagascar, Mozambique, Mali and Tanzania.
